All american season 3 episode 9 date8/26/2023 At the end of season 3, she was shot by Monique Moore after she found out Mo's plan to avenge her brother's death. When she moved back in after she helped with the arrest of Tyrone Moore, she reverted to being a songwriter and DJ. Also, as she was a minor at the time, she couldn't take over the lease on Shawn's rental house, even if she was to be emancipated from her mother. While she tried to warn Shawn off the gang, she started to take the gang life more seriously after Shawn was killed off, restarting the chain of revenge killings between rival gangs that started with Shawn's brother, Brandon, the year before. Bre-Z as Tamia "Coop" Cooper, Spencer's lesbian friend and Patience's girlfriend from Crenshaw High. However, by midseason, he played both as gunner and wide receiver. In college, as his struggles to rise up the wide receiver's depth chart continues to lead to nowhere, he offered to switch to kicker and gunner, positions he played in Pop Warner while recovering from his shoulder injury, where there is no depth. After he got shot by one of Tyrone's affiliates, he got surgery to remove the bullet so he could return to playing football. Days later, he was included in the top 300 college prospect ranking, but he was still grieving from Corey's death. He patched up his strained relationship with his father Corey and quit football the day after a ring ceremony due to the death of his father. Spencer takes on a lot of responsibility to help his community, being the leader of the football team and taking care of his family and friends takes a toll on the star player. Gravitational waves discovery for kids8/26/2023 › Read the Caltech press release Procedures In a statement to Caltech, Thorne said the prize also belongs to the more than 1,000 scientists and engineers around the world who play a part on LIGO, the result of a long-term partnership between Caltech, MIT and the National Science Foundation. Thorne, Barish and Weiss played key roles in making the LIGO project a reality through their research, leadership and development of technology to detect gravitational waves. 3, 2017: Researchers Kip Thorne and Barry Barish of Caltech and Rainer Weiss of MIT have been awarded the 2017 Nobel Prize in Physics for their “ decisive contributions to the LIGO detector and the observation of gravitational waves.” Having two observatories placed a great distance apart allows researchers to approximate the direction the waves are coming from and confirm that the signal is coming from space rather than something nearby (such as a heavy truck or an earthquake). LIGO is so sensitive that it can detect a change smaller than 1/10,000 the width of a proton (10 -19 meter). When a gravitational wave passes by, the mirrors move a tiny amount, which changes the distance between them. The laser beams precisely indicate the distance between mirrors placed at the ends of each tube. Each observatory uses a laser beam that is split and sent down 2.5-mile (4-kilometer) long tubes. LIGO consists of facilities in Washington and Louisiana. Thanks to LIGO’s discovery, a new field of science has been born: gravitational wave astronomy. It’s also important because gravitational waves carry information about their inception and about the fundamental properties of gravity that can’t be seen through observations of the electromagnetic spectrum. But it wasn’t until 2015, when LIGO’s instruments were upgraded and became more sensitive, that they were able to detect the presence of actual gravitational waves, confirming the last important piece of Einstein’s theory. In 1974, physicists discovered that two neutron stars orbiting each other were getting closer in a way that matched Einstein’s predictions. In it, he predicted the existence of gravitational waves, which had never been directly detected until now. On Septemthose waves reached Earth and were detected by researchers at the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO).Įinstein published the Theory of General Relativity in 1915. The collision released massive amounts of energy in a fraction of a second (about 50 times as luminous as all the stars in the visible universe combined) and sent gravitational waves in all directions. Little did he know that 1.3 billion years earlier, two massive black holes collided. These gravitational waves move outward, like ripples from a stone moving across the surface of a pond. BackgroundĪ century ago, Albert Einstein theorized that when objects move through space they create waves in spacetime around them. Avoid direct eye exposure and take caution when pointing a laser at a mirror to avoid accidental reflections of a laser beam into anyone’s eyes. Safety Note: Lasers are a potential hazard because they can burn the retina of the eye. This provides more stability to the gelatin and keeps the edges smooth, reducing the amount of scattering that the laser beam experiences. In this case, skip steps 2 and 4 in the "Procedures" section below, and press the marble into the gelatin after it sets so that the marble is flush with the surface. This way the gelatin can be kept in the pan. You can avoid this by using a clear pan (without textures in the glass that would affect the path of the laser beam). Taking the gelatin out of the pan and inserting a mirror makes the gelatin more susceptible to rough edges and tears that will affect the model. The pan provides a lot of structural support for the gelatin. The gelatin should be made and set in advance of creating the model. The model can be developed in pairs, small groups, larger groups, or as a whole class demonstration, depending on availability of materials.Laser Target Card - Download PDF Management Two small steel marbles, ball bearings or round pebbles Materialsīaking pan (clear, smooth glass preferred)Ĭutting board, cookie sheet or other flat, portable surface › Explore more on the Teachable Moments Blog OverviewStudents develop a model to represent the collision of two black holes, the gravitational waves that result and the waves' propagation through spacetime. Snapseed for apple8/26/2023 I want to darken the background slightly and increase the warmth of my subject's face, which is in direct sunlight. When you do this, the masked area is highlighted in red. You can make three different types of adjustment - brightness, saturation and contrast, and all three parameters can be tweaked from a single control point.Īfter placing a control point, you can adjust its radius by pinching the iPad's screen. All this happens smoothly, without any 'lag'. The control points (and their associated adjustment masks) can be moved freely around an image. In Snapseed, by defining a control point you are creating an automatic mask, with a radius or 'sphere of influence' that you can determine by pinching the iPad's screen. Put simply, U Point allows you to define specific 'target' points in an image, and pin specific adjustments to these points. The basis of Nik's success as a creator of plugins for Adobe Photoshop and Apple Aperture is its U Point technology. The adjustments are smooth, and the swipe left/right method of adjusting intensity keeps the screen clear of 'button clutter'. This method of control is becoming more common in photography applications on the iOS platform, and works very well. In the Tune Image palette I can chose from brightness, contrast, 'ambiance', saturation and white balance adjustments, and by swiping across the image horizontally I can increase and decrease the intensity of the adjustment. Opening images is one of the very few number of operations in Snapseed which takes longer than a brief moment, but even with this 12Mp file, it was ready for adjustment within a couple of seconds.īefore delving into more specific, targeted enhancements I want to make a couple of quickĪdjustments to this image, just to liven it up a little. Once the image is imported into my camera roll, I just need to open Snapseed, and hit the 'open image' button, then select the photo that I want to adjust. Once connected, images on the attached media appear on the iPad's screen and can be imported, either individually or as a batch. The Camera Connection Kit consists of two adapters: one to connect a digital camera via USB and one to connect an SD card. I did this using Apple's optional Camera Connection Kit. The photograph I want to work on is currently sitting on a memory card, so the first step is to import it into my iPad's 'camera roll'. Step 1: Importing and opening your photograph Share and print finished images wirelessly straight from iPadįor the purposes of this quick review, I've created a basic example workflow, from importing an image onto the iPad, and opening it in Snapseed, to the finished version, after adjustment.Auto Correct function for quick auto-adjustment of color and exposure.Customizable 'grunge', 'drama' and 'vintage films' effects filters.Black and White adjustment with customizable grain and contrast filters.Universal white balance, saturation, brightness, ambience adjustments via 'Tune Image' palette.U Point technology for precise selective exposure and color adjustments. On paper at least, Snapseed is impressively well-featured. For that price you get U Point exposure, contrast and saturation control, as well as more conventional cropping and rotational adjustments, plus a range of effects filters and frames. At $4.99, Snapseed is by far Nik's cheapest payware, even if it is one of the more expensive photography apps on the market right now. Two of the most popular: Silver Efex Pro 2 and Viveza 2, cost $199 each, and the complete collection, which contains all of Nik's various plugins for Photoshop, Lightroom and Apple Aperture, costs $599 - not much less than Photoshop CS5.Īt first glance then, the price of Nik's new Snapseed application for the Apple iPad looks like a typo. Nik's plugins have an excellent reputation, but they're not cheap. The unique selling point of Nik's software is the company's U Point technology, which allows you to make precise exposure, contrast and color adjustments to various user-defined control points in an image. The chances are, if you're a keen photographer, that you will have come across its range of Photoshop and Apple Aperture plugins, and it is Nik's technology that drives Capture NX/NX2 - Nikon's flagship image manipulation software. Although hardly a household name, Nik has been making software for digital photographers for years. Cheap gas station near my location8/26/2023 Information about propane costs and propane fireplaces. There are sometimes reports of false widow bites that present with more sinister symptoms like rotting flesh and excruciating pain. Austin rainfall totals 20168/26/2023 Since the creation of the United States Drought Monitor Map in 2000, Texas has been completely drought-free for approximately 8% of the time (2000–2014), and at least half of the state has been under drought conditions for approximately 42% of the same period. The warmest and the driest summer in the historical record helped fuel the worst wildfire season since statewide records began (approximately 1990), with nearly 4 million acres burned and almost $750 million in damages. The three most impactful events were drought, extreme heat, and wildfires. In 2020, the state was hit by eleven of the nation’s billion-dollar disasters. Texas is consistently ranked in the top 10 states affected by extreme events. Catastrophic flooding occurred across much of southeast Texas. Rainfall exceeded 30 inches in many locations, and a few locations had more than 50 inches (Figure 5). After making landfall on August 25, Harvey slowed and was nearly stationary for several days near Houston. Hurricane Harvey (2017) was the most destructive event in Texas history, mostly due to the unprecedented rainfall, which contributed to the second wettest month on record despite affecting only part of the state. The five wettest months on record have all occurred since the year 2000, led by 9.1 inches in May 2015. In the 1990s and early 2000s, the number of 3-inch extreme precipitation events was above average, and after the dry period of 2005–2014, they were well above average during the 2015–2020 period (Figure 4c). The driest consecutive 5 years was the 1952–1956 interval and the wettest was the 2015–2019 period. Historically significant droughts occurred in the late 1910s, the early 1950s, and the early 2010s the driest calendar years were 1917, 1956, and 2011 (Figure 4b). Precipitation is widely variable across Texas, with normal amounts ranging from less than 10 inches in the far west to more than 60 inches in the extreme southeast. The annual number of entire days below freezing was well above average in the 1970s and 1980s but has since been near the long-term average (Figure 4a). Daily minimum temperatures in January typically range from about 20☏ in the northern Panhandle to about 50☏ near the mouth of the Rio Grande River. The record dry conditions contributed to the higher temperatures. The Dallas-Fort Worth area endured 40 consecutive days with temperatures higher than 100˚F, which was the second-longest streak on record (1899–2020). The summer of 2011 was the warmest summer on record (since 1895) and broke the state record for highest average number of days with temperatures of 100 ☏ or more. The urban heat island effect increased these occurrences in city centers. While there is no overall trend in extremely hot days (Figure 2), the number of very warm nights was particularly high during the 2010s (Figure 3). Temperatures in Texas have risen almost 1.5˚F since the beginning of the 20th century (Figure 1). Less warming is expected under a lower emissions future (the coldest end-of-century projections being about 2☏ warmer than the historical average green shading) and more warming under a higher emissions future (the hottest years in the hottest end-of-century projections being about 10☏ warmer than the hottest year in the historical record red shading). Historically unprecedented warming is projected during this century. Observed temperatures are generally within the envelope of model simulations of the historical period (gray shading). Shading indicates the range of annual temperatures from the set of models. Temperatures in Texas (orange line) have risen almost 1.5☏ since the beginning of the 20th century. Projected changes for 2006–2100 are from global climate models for two possible futures: one in which greenhouse gas emissions continue to increase (higher emissions) and another in which greenhouse gas emissions increase at a slower rate (lower emissions). Fenty concealer 100 swatch8/26/2023 Everything that I picked up looked so classy and felt luxurious too (even the brushes, which I wasn’t interested in enough to buy). So right off the bat, I have to say that I absolutely adore the packaging of the Fenty Beauty products. That being said, I judge make up products by the quality and not the celebrity behind it so below are my honest opinions on everything. I haven’t been following much of her recent work but she was one of my idols during high school and music college – I love her Good Girl Gone Bad – Rehab sort of era and it’s been years and I am still not over it. Although it isn’t the full collection, I think that I have a good enough variety to give my thoughts on this brand – it’s strengths, weaknesses and why I am obsessed!Īs I disclaimer, I had to admit that I do love Rihanna as a singer and a celebrity. For now, I have the Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer, the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo and a Match Stix Matte Skinstick. There’s actually a few more things that I wanted to get but I wasn’t absolutely sold about them yet, so maybe I’ll pick them up later. With how fast things were selling out, I headed to Sephora during my lunch break and got a couple of products that I’ve been especially in love with. I might be better off with the shade Butter.Regardless of whether you’re a kbeauty fan or a western beauty lover, there is no doubt that Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty release is the launch of the year! There’s been so much talk about it all over Instagram and Youtube and, even though I thought that I would be avoiding this rush – I caved. I did pick the wrong shades though as Banana was a LITTLE too stark for use under my eyes and Cashew a smidge to dark on my face. The finish is seamless, never cakey or dry and doesn’t give that too made up look nor a white cast. The powder is very luxurious feeling! It blends flawlessly and doesn’t adhere to drier areas. Squalane is a great hydrating source and I feel like that really lends something to the application and look of this powder on my dry skin. If you look at Fenty Beauty’s formula one of the third ingredients in this powder is Squalane and I think that translates well in this formula. It might sound horrifying to some but the texture is like a finer, silkier baby powder and I’m quite alright with that. The talc gives the texture of the powder a certain thickness and it feels silkier to me. However, a combination of talc, silica, dimethicone is much better. I don’t really like Silica/Dimethicone powders as I don’t like the slippery texture and feel like it settles into my finer eyes. As I knew people would want to know how it performed in both areas. I got the Banana shade to use under my eyes but I went one step further and got the Cashew shade to test out on my face. I like that powder allows my eyes to look brighter and also extends the wear of my concealer. All that being said, I do set my concealer with powder. Moral of the story, I’m not a powder user. I don’t wear a lot of foundation so adding powder on top of things just makes me feel like I’m wearing too much makeup. That’s one perk of having dry skin (there aren’t many)! The second reason I don’t set with powder is it does make me feel a little too made up. One reason would be I find it unnecessary as I don’t have issues with shine or excess oil plus I never feel like my makeup transfers. I’m not a heavy powder user since I have dry skin and I tend to just not set my makeup with powder. I thought the packaging was very elegant and felt very lux. Thanks RiRi! There’s nothing more annoying than getting a powder that has a small lid which you can’t use to shake your loose powder into! This lid is massive with plenty of real estate to swirl and tap off your brush. None the less, somehow, someway, Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder ended up in my cart in two shades.įenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder arrives in a heavy and luxe feeling hexagon jar with a very generously-sized cap that make it oh so easy to swirl my brush in. Or maybe I’m alone in my oddball makeup logic. I can’t be alone thinking this! Anyone ever feeling that way when shopping makeup or particularly skincare? Got the moisturizer, need the matching serum from the same brand and so on and so fourth. I think I have some sort of weird mentality of, “Oh the concealer would work best if I also get the powder they launched from the same brand!”. Since I was purchasing the new concealer I admit I felt compelled to complete the purchase with the Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder even though I’m a pretty faithful fan to my tried and true Ben Nye Banana Powder. Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder ($32) is a new loose setting powder available in eight shade selections launched with the brand’s new line of Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer.
